Easter Is A Week Away

It's so hard to believe that Easter is a week away.  It's also hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since I posted my last blog.  My days have been so busy lately that everytime I sit down to do it something else comes up.  The past few weeks I have been working on a few commission items.  I made 5 cards and shipped them to Austrailia on Tuesday.   Woot!  I got a random call out for a going away card on Thursday, and have also been working really hard on getting some commission layouts done.  As well I have been working on a layout for my work, and a new card kit to get together for Etsy.  Somewhere in there I have been getting some sleep.  Not quite sure where though.  Here are a few pics of my going away card.

I created it using the New Tim Holtz File Tab Sizzix Die.  I love these they are so interchangeable on so many different projects.  The paper I used is a mix of Pink Paisley 6x6 (Queen Bee) paper pad, and Little Yellow Bicycle Clotheline paper.  I just love the new texture Little Yellow Bicycle added to this paper line.  It almost feels like fabric.  And the use of Greys and yellows, simply classy.  I created this card after a similiar card I had made for Technique Tuesday that is coming up on April 6th at Simply Scrapbooks.

This Card was created using the same Little Yellow Bicycle paper, as well as the same Tim Holtz Sizzix dies.  I went a little softer on this card by adding a punched fringe from a Martha Stewart paper punch.  And the card is turned to look just like a folder.  I also used a really cute set of stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms.
This Tuesday we will be making a fun Easter card using the New Spellbinder Easter set, and New flowersoft used for flocking.  I made this card a few weeks ago when I was really sick.  The paper is super cute from Cosmo Cricket.  And who can't resist Unity Stamps.
Here is a picture of the basketball layout I had made on commission.  It's really the first time I have ever made a boy layout.  I think I am just spoiled always scrapping such cute pictures of Skye.  She is picture perfect.

This isn't the best pic, I took it late lastnight when I was finished.  I took some other pics of it today but they all want to upload sideways no matter which way I turn them or resize them.
Other than that I have a few more items on my etsy site, check it out.  Now to finish this card kit and onto more commission layouts and etsy stuff.   Really aching for makin some altered art or collages though, guess you will just have to wait and see what is next.
Enjoy your sunny days till then!

Cookies For Breakfast!!! Yummy!!!

Yay Sunday!  A day off to recover from the long week, and to prepare for the upcoming days ahead.  For me a day of laundry, family and a wonderful brunch when David gets home. Today Skyler and I started the day off with cookies.
This is definately something we don't do often.  But there are times you just have to eat your desserts first.
And who can't resist a fresh baked chocolate and peanut butter chip cookie, warm from the oven.  My fav!!  Then we had a little silly time afterwards till they were done.
That little face is so cute, couldn't you just gobble her up?
I just can't wait to scrap these!

Here is David's reaction when were being silly and  I told him I was going to take pictures of him for my blogsite, camera in hand... I love my foot in the picture.  How did that get there?

Well here is a little something I made the other day using a black shadow box I purchased at the local dollar store.  I just love litte things you can pick up for a buck and alter.
When the new Cosmo Cricket material girl line came out and I saw all those cute retro pictures of little girls, I couldn't wait to create something fun with them.  I was so excited to use them that  I even had a dream about this one in a collage.  I don't know if this is what the collage looked like in my dream, but I really like the way it turned out when I was awake, or was I dreaming?
To create the ruffled edge on the right side,  I ran a line of glue along the edge of the letter strip.  Taking pink crepe paper I slid it into the glue, sliding and gathering as I went to create wrinkles.  After the glue had dried, I took blue floss and handstiched along the edge of the letter strip to give the ruffles an added finish.  I love how the black and white images show up so well on the dictionary definition paper, it really makes them pop, and it tied the whole thing together.  Notice how it looks like a funky page in the dictionary turned to the letter S, and you are reading my simple definition of scrapbook scissors. (I want a cool dictionary with pictures like that.) The black and white pictures are a mix of stamps, rub-ons and images I cut out of Cosmo Cricket's School Days line. (I just love their papers they are so retro, and fun to play with.)   I thought it was perfect to make the collage about scrapbook scissors.  They are the one tool I ALWAYS reach for no matter what I am working on.  I would feel so lost without them.
I had alot of fun making this and am already working on another one!
Keep creating and have a great Sunday all!

Feeling a little more me....

Sunday I woke up and I was sick.  I took it easy all day, I even tried to work on a few things, but I wasn't really feeling it.  Made 2 cards for my etsy site, then took a nap when my daughter did.
On Monday I went to work as usual, even though I was still sick I really couldn't miss any work.  I figured I just had bronchitis, I always get it early spring, and in the fall.  When I came home from work I had exactly an hour before my boyfriend and daughter would be home, so I took a really fast cat nap.  When I woke up I was worse!  I was really sick to my stomach, and had a splitting headache.  I wasn't able to keep anything down for the next couple of days.  And all I have done is layed in bed.  Today is the first day I am back up, I feel like I have a little more energy today.  But I am still pretty sick.  So just gonna take it easy all day and rest although I really want to sit and make things.  Here are some pics of the 2 cards I created before I came down with this illness.
Well hopefully I will get back to making some things in the next couple days.  It's kinda making me crazy.  My house is a little messy, and I really want to clean it but I don't have the energy. I just got a new shelf to set up in my studio, but don't have the energy.  And I am so excited too!   I really want to make something but I just don't feel up to it.  Think I will go watch a movie and nap when my daughter does.

Sunny Days Are Ahead

Today was a super busy day at work.  Everyone at work has been working really hard the last 3 weeks on easter projects.  And today was the big day they all went out and we kicked off to spring!  Oh and what a beautiful day it was, in the 50's with TONS of sunshine.  YAY!  I am also sad to say I didn't make the Graphic 45 design team.  But really I am not that sad, it was a great learning experience, and I already have BIG plans for what's instore for next year.  Next are some submissions to Somerset studio.  I will let you know how that goes.  Trying to focus really hard this year on being published, submitting for all kinds of things, as well as other design team calls.  Making a name for myself, and selling stuff on my etsy site.  Here are some more submissions to Graphic 45, and a pic of a cute card I taught lastweek at my Tuesday make and take.
This is a collage I created on a 4x6 stretched artist canvas.  I love retro things and these pictures just spoke to me.  When I create I don't really have an idea of where things are going.  Sometimes I have outside inspiration that may drive me.  But most of the time the art just pours out of me and comes together.  I really like the lady with her umbrella looking up.  The airplane just adds such a nice touch.

I really like to play with different techniques.  The background on this canvas is patterned paper, with a layer of pink crepe paper over top.  It gives a sort of surreal look,  almost see through just enough to see the music notes.  In a few spots I actually tore pieces of the crepe paper off to give it more of a warn look.  Over top I used some distress stickles for added vintage effect.  As well as a touch of glimmer.  I love the image of the Eiffel Tower.  It is actually an old postcard I had copied and used.

This is the card we created last Tuesday in my weekly technique class.  We played with Spellbinder dies, a Martha Stewart punch, a super cute Pure Innocence stamp, and Shimmerz Bling paints.  The Bling paint added just the perfect touch for the wings.  And could this paper be any more perfect for this stamp?  Everyone really enjoyed themselves, thanks to all who dropped in that night.

Graphic 45 Design Team Submissions

I am excited to tell everyone that I have submitted some projects to Graphic 45 Design Team call. I sent them in on Sunday, and it feels like Friday is so far away. Although I think my art is great, I am also very realistic that there are tons of other people who have submitted for this same thing. But I am keeping an open mind and if I don't get chosen I will just try harder next time. It's not the end of the world, even though I think it would be a very wonderful experience. It was alot of fun just making projects to submit, and I love playing with their papers. So here are some pics of the projects I have submitted. Sit back and enjoy!

This is is picture of my grandmother Theda Mae Mefford.  Though I didn't get to know her well she has always been a light in my life.  She passed away when I was a sophomore in highschool, and had battled Alzheimers disease.  She was a strong woman, and everything about this paper screams her name.  She had an eye for beauty, she loved to sew and had a passion for clothing and even shoes.  She was an avid gardener and surrounded herself in nature as much as she could.  I miss her very much, and wish she could have lived to meet my daughter.  She was a wonderful woman!

Although I love capturing images in layouts, I also have a passion for creating cards as well.  Sadly I never send many of them out, I sort of form an attachment to each piece I create.  Here are a few cards I also submitted for the design team call.

I think these cards are just so pretty and dainty.  Couldn't you just see the second card perfect for a teenage girl's birthday?

Thats it for today I will give some more sneak peaks of my submissions tomorrow, gotta keep you all wanting more!
